Snowmobile Chassis

Suspension, Dialed.

Front IFS to rear skid — here's how Polaris' suspension systems ride, what makes each one different, and which sleds you'll find them on.

Front vs. Rear — the quick version

Front Suspension (IFS)

The independent A-arm setup up front controls steering, ski bite and cornering. Spring preload and clickers let you tune how the sled turns in and holds a line through the corners.

Rear Suspension (Skid)

The rail/skid under the track manages ride comfort, weight transfer and traction. Spring preload, clickers and limiter straps balance ski pressure against bump-eating comfort.

PRO-RIDE Front

The independent A-arm front end under Polaris' AXYS and Matryx trail and crossover sleds. Race-developed geometry with lightweight, high-strength components keeps the sled flat and predictable through corners and delivers sharp, confident steering.

Type
A-arm independent front (IFS)
Travel
≈9 in (model-dependent)
Adjustability
Spring preload + compression clickers
Best For
Trail & crossover cornering and control
Found on: INDY, RUSH, Switchback, VR1 (AXYS / Matryx)

RMK REACT Front

Polaris' mountain-specific front suspension. A narrower stance and purpose-built geometry make the sled roll on edge effortlessly — so it initiates, sidehills and holds a line in deep snow with minimal rider input.

Type
Mountain independent front (RMK REACT)
Travel
Deep-snow tuned geometry
Adjustability
Preload + clickers (trim-dependent)
Best For
Sidehilling, initiation & technical climbs
Found on: RMK, RMK Khaos, RMK Pro (Matryx Slash)

PRO-XC Rear

The performance trail rear suspension on RUSH and Switchback. A coil-over, rising-rate design mounts the rear track shock externally under the seat — cutting unsprung weight for a lively, connected ride. External clickers and coil preload make trailside tuning quick.

Type
Coil-over rising-rate rear (uncoupled)
Travel
≈14 in rear travel (model-dependent)
Adjustability
Rear coil preload + clickers; limiter strap
Best For
Aggressive trail & bump-eating comfort
Found on: RUSH, Switchback (PRO-XC)

PRO-CC Rear

A torsion-spring rear that converts between coupled and uncoupled behavior — blending big-bump capability with flat, predictable handling. On the INDY XCR, Long-Tail geometry shares load between the front and rear arms with a progressive rate for excellent bottoming resistance.

Type
Torsion-spring convertible rear (coupled / uncoupled)
Travel
Progressive rate (model-dependent)
Adjustability
Torsion preload + clickers; coupling blocks
Best For
Race-inspired trail with coupling control
Found on: INDY XCR & select crossover trims

RMK REACT Rear

A lightweight mountain skid built for float and maneuverability. Rail geometry keeps the sled loose and playful so it climbs, carves and reacts to rider input. The 2027 RMK Factory Edition adds HD hillclimb-profile rails and Walker Evans Velocity shocks.

Type
Lightweight mountain rail (RMK REACT)
Travel
Deep-snow tuned
Adjustability
Preload + clickers; HD rail options
Best For
Big-mountain float, climbing & tree riding
Found on: RMK, RMK Khaos, RMK Pro / Factory Edition

Utility Rear

The heavy-duty rear under Polaris utility and wide-track sleds. Longer rails and load-tuned calibration deliver comfort while towing, riding two-up or hauling gear all day — built to work and go the distance.

Type
Long-rail utility rear
Travel
Comfort-tuned for load
Adjustability
Preload + clickers (trim-dependent)
Best For
Towing, 2-up touring & utility
Found on: Voyageur, TITAN & wide-track trims
